日本公開直後の4月15日に運よく、アカデミー賞作品賞（オスカー最高の賞です）の本作を広島市内の八丁座にて観てきました。
わたしはアカデミーよりはカンヌの作品賞であるパルムドールの受賞作のほうがはずれなしとは思っていますが、それでもオスカーの作品賞の修行ははずせません。土曜日にちょうど夜に講演会が広島市内にあったついでに馳せ参じました。
本作のテーマは重いです。何百人のカトリック神父による信者の何千もの少年たちへの性虐待を地区教会のトップである枢機卿が自ら隠ぺいしていたどころか、多くの問題神父を世界じゅうに転勤させ、世界各地で何十年にもわたり、性的虐待の犠牲者をカトリック教本部自体が放置どころか拡散してきたのでは？・・・という疑惑にボストンで気付いた記者たち（ボストンはカトリック教の牙城で記者たちの大部分もカトリック教徒）が、教会や周辺利権者（弁護士たち）の妨害や脅しに遭いながら、真実を明らかにしていく。かつてウォーターゲート事件を暴いたジャーナリストたちの活躍をモチーフにした「大統領の陰謀」の再来のようなテーマの映画です。
実は本作は前半は話がかったるく、はっきりいって眠くなります。ただ徐々に問題の全貌が明らかになってくるにつれて、目が離せなくなります。ほんとは10年以上前にきづくヒントがあったのに見逃していた記者自身のこころの葛藤と正義の探求への渇望が、さまざまな障害を乗り越え、問題の表面化へ徐々に近づいていきます。そしてこれからというところで、映画は終わります。このあとはどうなるだろうという疑問にかられてわたしは迷うことなく、本作のパンフレットを購入してしまいました。こういう問題の起こるキリスト教社会にあきれるとともに、これを暴くアメリカ社会。社会の病気と嘆くべきか、ジャーナリズムの健全とたたえるべきか、とまどい逡巡してしまいます。
最近のアカデミー賞の傾向ど真ん中にある、バリバリ社会派の映画です。でもこれって10代の子たちはテーマも含めて、あまり楽しめないのでは？なんて変な考えが頭をもたげながら、映画を見終わり、足早に講演会場に向かうわたしがいました。

アカデミー作品賞・脚本賞受賞作品 特に派手さは無いけれど事件の全貌を暴いていく脚本の素晴らしさは，エンディングの見事さで一気に満足の極地に達します。
カトリック教会へのスクープではなく，長い間見逃していた事実あるいは背けていた真実にスポットライトを当てた記者たちの闘いに静かな感動を覚えた作品でした。
ＰＳ：去年のカンヌ映画祭パルムドール「ディーパンの闘い」ご覧になりましたか？
なかなか上映館が少なく修行は大変ですよね。

Hi, I think your website might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your blog in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, awesome blog!
